Certain concepts in League of Legends are absurdly simple but work remarkably well. An excellent example of this is fiery skins – the moment you give Champions some flaming particles, they look completely different. Another great example is Zombie skins, and Zombie Ryze is no exception.
All it takes is some mottled skin and a greenish hue to make a Champion look like a Zombie, but Zombie Ryze goes a step further. First off, there’s his tombstone;
Well, we don’t know if it’s his tombstone. Of course, the fact that he hauls it around in place of his usual giant scroll implies it must be pretty important to him. Perhaps he needs his tombstone to sustain himself, a piece of his not so final resting place.
The other thing that sets this skin apart from others is his abilities. While they’re not wholly different, they’ve definitely changed enough to be noticeable – but here’s the kicker;
All of Zombie Ryze’s abilities now have a spooky green glow! Different particles on abilities are something many other skins don’t have; take almost every single Ahri skin, for example.
Naturally, Zombie Ryze would look out of place if he wore the freshly pressed robes of his default skin. Riot knows this, and have done more than throw some dirt on him.
He’s missing a boot, to start with. We’re also unsure whether mud cakes his trousers, or if they’re supposed to be that colour. The visual changes don’t end there though!
Zombie Ryze also has a belt buckle in the shape of a skull; just in case you didn’t think he was horrifying enough already.
In his splash art, the undead wizard sits within a summoning circle. Dark energy surrounds one hand as he seems to yank the many bodies that surround him up from their slumber.
Green flames curl up from Zombie Ryze himself, along with all his undead minions, and this splash art does an excellent job of reimagining his tattoos. Instead of ordinary ink, they’ve been swapped out for something far more menacing.
The markings covering his body are now deep cuts, but instead of oozing blood, they seep glowing energy, the same kind of energy that makes up his dead eyes. This brings us to the final feature that makes this piece so intimidating — the face.
Although his eyebrows seem to have rotten to nothingness, what’s left of them are furrowed in a menacing expression. His lips curl back in a feral snarl that would be more fitting on a starving tiger than on a person.
And of course, the energy from his hand serves to illuminate this scary expression, framing him in the centre of the picture.
Zombie Ryze shares his theme with such skins as Zombie Brand and Zombie Nunu & Willump, all of which draw inspiration from Night of the Living Dead.
If you want to bring some life back into your bland LoL games, then ditch default Ryze and pick up Zombie Ryze for only 975 RP!
Legacy skins are still obtainable thanks to our high end account store which features League of Legends accounts with the rarest skins at the best prices.
