Warlord Shen takes the Eye of Twilight and transforms him into a traditional Samurai. His splash art is particularly striking; therefore we’ll begin with that before taking a look at the in-game skin itself;
The red mask with the twinkling amethyst eyes clearly stands out the most here. It seems to glow with the embers that rain down around him. A volley of arrows bombard Warlord Shen, but the shafts splinter and snap without so much as leaving a scratch on his enamelled armor. Or, perhaps, they’re being deflected by something else:
A vaporous mass of purple energy swirls around him, meaning these arrows may be pinging off Warlord Shens Spirit’s Refuge ability. His blade also glows with similar purple light, matching the luminescence of his eyes.
Despite wearing a mask, the artists behind Warlord Shen’s splash art have captured a truly menacing facial expression that would inspire fear in the hearts of any of his foes. He doesn’t have to face them alone though.
A retinue of soldiers accompanies warlord Shen, and one particular kunoichi off to the left stands out - she bears a stark resemblance to Akali, particularly due to the bandana around her face, and of course the distinctive blade she wields.
The buildings in the background are clearly Asian inspired, with their sloped rooves – although this was clear from all the other elements of the skin, It helps further develop the setting.
In-game, Warlord Shen’s protective covering is a mishmash of armour actual samurai’s would have worn, and does not follow one particular theme. It’s as though the artist said; “Realism be damned, we just want this skin to look epic.”
Well, it certainly accomplishes that goal, and no one is going to get angry about the armour except radical history buffs.
Warlord Shen’s sashimono (the banner affixed to his back) has also received a revamp and is now a bright crimson colour. While the skin doesn’t come with any new animations, it does allow for a fresh experience, and who knows, perhaps dressed as an intimidating Warlord your teammates might actually listen to you for a change. Probably not though.
Legacy skins are still obtainable thanks to our high end account store which features League of Legends accounts with the rarest skins at the best prices.
