Blood Moon Shen Lol Skin

Blood Moon Shen is part of the Blood Moon skin line, and shares his theme with such Champions as Blood Moon Jhin, Akali, and Elise.

He acts as a glorified bodyguard for the higher-ups in the Blood Moon cult, executing those who would oppose the cults goals with clinical precision.

In game, Blood Moon Shen has a red and black colour scheme, befitting a demon worshipper. His vambraces are coated in serrated blades, and he’s donned a ghastly skull mask that you might expect to see on a Mexican wrestler.

Interestingly, Blood Moon Shen wields a Kanabō – a Kanabō is a type of spiked two-handed war club, and many Japanese tales claim that the Kanabō was the weapon used by Oni’s – Japanese Demons of immense strength.

The Oni’s adoration of this weapon was so widely reputed, that it gave rise to a saying;

“Like giving a kanabō to an oni” which is usually interpreted to mean giving strength to something which already wields immense strength – a western translation might be “fighting fire with fire.”

It’s a particularly fitting weapon, given the fact that a Demon is currently possessing blood Moon Shen.

In terms of Blood Moon Shen’s splash art, it’s appropriately foggy and mysterious.

The demonic ninja raises a radiant crimson gem from a podium that spews light purple mist – In Blood Moon Shen’s other hand, he can be seen reaching for his weapon. Overall, the piece captures the creepiness of this skin perfectly. Even the full moon in the background is unable to penetrate the enveloping mist.

Although, the crimson gem itself does provide some excellent underlighting for Blood Moon Shen, somehow making him even more horrifying.

Originally released back in June of 2011, this skin is available for 750 RP – quite a low sum, given the skins excellent appearance and its historical easter egg.
