Whether you are a professional player or not, the last thing you would want during a game in LoL is to get higher ping levels. Every second of the game can make a difference and change the odds. That is why every player should have a good and stable internet connection that would provide low ping levels. Surely, not all players have a stable connection due to various reasons throughout the world. These players should know what ping levels are acceptable to play League of Legends. In our article, we will give ping ranges that are considered “good ping for League of Legends.” Looking at these levels, you can understand how your connection affects your gameplay.

How to Display Ping In LoL?

How to display fps and ping in LoL

Before learning about which ranges are good ping for LoL, you should check your current ping level in-game. This value will be in terms of “ms.” Ms stands for milliseconds, so the value will show how many milliseconds you are delayed from the game. When you are in the game,

  • hit the combination CTRL + F.
  • This would display your ping level in “ms” on the right upper corner.

If this does not work for you, you will need to set a hotkey in the options. To do this, go to options and then select the hotkeys under the in-game section. There, click on the display and set a hotkey for “Toggle FPS display.” The hotkey that you set will toggle ping and FPS levels in the game.

After learning your ping level, you might check whether your ms is “a good ping in League of Legends.”

Good Ping Ranges in LoL

Your ping value gets affected by various reasons such as your location to the game server, your internet connection, the condition of your provider, etc. While some factors are impossible to adjust and change, some are adjustable so you can have a better ping level. Plus, knowing what your ping level is might tell that your game performance could be better in better internet conditions. So, here are the good ping ranges:

  • < 30ms - The Perfect Ping Range: If your ping is below 30, you will not feel any delay during your game which will increase your game performance.
  • 30 - 60ms - The Average Range: This range is not perfect, but you still would not feel high delays that would affect your gameplay. Thus, these levels are acceptable and we can consider the range as a good ping range in League.

While these are acceptable ping rates to play League of Legends, some players play at higher ping levels. Let’s continue with the list of higher ping rates.

What about Bad Ping Ranges?

From time to time, it is okay to get slightly more than 60ms. But if you constantly get much higher ping rates, then you should be aware of this and try to fix your ping rates to make your ms rate “acceptable.”

  • 60-100ms - The Little Delayed Range: These levels are acceptable for some players since the delay is relatively small. However, keep in mind that fast reactions are crucial and can be game-changing in League of Legends.
  • 100ms-500ms- The Huge Delayed Range: Levels at this range may be playable, but it is definitely not acceptable to play at these levels. Even if you succeed to cast your spells, attacks at the right time; your opponent will always have a huge advantage over you.
  • >500ms - Impossible to Play: After 500ms, every move you make will be delayed 0.5 seconds. With this amount of delay, you will not be able to play any online game.

Always check your ping levels and internet connection if you are about to go into an important game. Cancel your queue immediately if your ping level is much higher than the average. Players who always play under 30 ms can have a hard time even around 60ms.

Some Advice…

Playing at lower ping levels is crucial in League of Legends. So here is our few advice on how to reduce your ping levels and play at an acceptable ping rate:

  • Pause the Downloads over your Network: Downloads highly increase the ping rate.
  • Play on the Closest Region: Your location to the main server is a very important factor. Make sure to play in the region that is closest to you.
  • Use Ethernet Cable: Wi-fi can sometimes be unstable to deliver the connection. Always play when an ethernet cable is plugged into your PC from your router.
  • Try a 3rd party solution such as https://www.wtfast.com/en/ that can sometimes create better tunnels between you and the host and decrease your ping.
