When it comes to special days, many e-sport games with thousands of active players always make special events. This is to increase the engagement within the games' community. One of these games is surely League of Legends, which has millions of active players worldwide and a huge community. Riot Games plan exclusive and creative in-game activities, skins, and much more every year. In this article, we will focus on League of Legends valentine's day. We are going to cover what were the main events in League of Legends on Valentine's Day. Also, we will see all the skins published with the valentines day concept during these events. Let's begin.

What is Special about Valentine's Day in LoL?

Every year, the League of Legends community and the active players get the chance to celebrate Valentine's Day with special themed skins, emotes, icons, and much more. While some events are just for fun and have no connection with Valentine's day, others do have some connection. But the biggest thing of this day for LoL is the exclusive themed items. Anyone can purchase the items, so it is okay if you are a new or veteran League player. Also, what makes them exclusive is that they are purchasable for a limited time, that is, during Valentine's day and some days afterwards. This makes the day even more special for the League community.

In general, the celebrations start with little exclusive in-game mechanics and events. Players hunt pink boxes and hearts and get special discounts for items in the store. Every year, Riot Games releases a new set of Valentine-themed items and skins for a limited time. You'll have to purchase these quickly if you want to get them. Champions that get skins change annually, and items include ward skins, emotes, etc. All these items and skins can be bought with Riot points. If you don't want to buy any skins, you are welcome to enjoy the other events! Now, let's look at Valentine's day skins that Riot published in the past.

All Released Valentine's Days Skins in League of Legends

Valentines Day Orianna

Before moving on, we'll have to remind you that many Valentine's skins are exclusive and are sold for a limited time. Thus, you cannot buy most League of Legends Valentine's skins in the official store at any time of the year. Some return to the official store but only for a limited time. The temporary makes these skins legacy; if you are unsure what that means, read our legacy skins article. If you like the skin and don't want to wait for it to come back, there is an option for you. You can find and buy these legacy skins on the secondary markets securely.

Here is the list of all Valentine's days skins in LoL that have been released until today, both legacy and permanent:

2012 Valentine's Day (Legacy)

  • Heartseeker Vayne: This is the first Valentine's day skin released during the second-ever Valentine's Day event. It comes with a pink and red colour scheme and has special particles. Vayne is dressed in a "valentine" style in her clothes. There are no new animations coming with the skin, but the model significantly changes the look of Vayne.

2013 Valentine's Day (Permanent)

  • Debonair Jayce: This was the second skin with Valentine's day concept. Jayce looks like an elegant man who wears a formal suit. There is a new recall animation and particles for his abilities. This skin is not legacy, so you can currently buy it in the in-game store.

2014 Valentine's Day (Legacy)

  • Heartseeker Ashe: This skin was released to celebrate 2014's Valentine's day. The skin references cupid as Ash makes people fall in love with her arrows. It comes with a pink and red colour scheme and a special arrow. The skin features new animations (recall), auto-attack sounds, and particles on Ash's abilities.

2015 Valentine's Day (Legacy)

  • Sweetheart Annie: In 2015, Riot Games started releasing more than one skin for the first time to celebrate Valentine's day. Sweetheart Annie came out with new models for Annie and Tibbers. There were no new particles, animations, or sounds for this skin. Still, it looks great with Valentine's day concept.
  • Heartseeker Varus: The second skin released in 2015 to celebrate Valentine's day was the Heartseeker Varus. This skin brought many unique looks. There are new particles, animations, sounds, and models! The skin gives Varus a brand new look with all these great modes.

2016 Valentine's Day (Legacy)

  • Heartseeker Orianna: Like the previous Heartseeker skins, Heartseeker Orianna was released with new sounds, animations, and particles. The concept is again "heartseeker," which suits Valentine's day theme pretty nicely.
  • Sweetheart Sona: Unlike the previous Sweetheart skins, this one came with new particles, a new recall animation, and sound effects. This makes the skin much more conceptual and suited to Valentine's day theme. The modelling also includes a harp-style Ethwahl.

2017 Valentine's Day (Legacy)

  • Heartseeker Lucian: This epic skin is another legacy skin. The concept is Lucian in love. The sound effects are all new with the skin, and there are some visual effects on his blazer. These make the skin very demanded.
  • Heartseeker Quinn: Quinn's idea of a perfect Valentine's Day is to get a new sniper rifle. Quinn gets this special skin with a pink and red colour scheme during Valentine's day events. This skin also comes with special particles.

2018 Valentine's Day (Legacy)

  • Sweetheart Rakan: Another popular yet legacy skin is Sweetheart Rakan. This year, Riot Games did not release any "Heartseeker" skins, unlike the previous years. Yet, the sweetheart skins were a great substitute for them, maybe even better. Rakan got a new charming look for the Charmet. There are new visual and sound effects in his abilities. Also, we shall not forget the new recall animation in Rakan style!
  • Sweetheart Xayah: Just like the Rakan skin, Sweetheart Xayah also got new models, particles, animations, and sounds with red and pink colours and in Valentine's day concept.

2019 Valentine's Day (Legacy)

  • Heartpiercer Fiora: On 2019's Valentine's day, Fiora got a unique skin which she was presented as "Heartpiercer" She got a new Valentine's day look and a recall animation that enabled her duelling skills before going back to base.
  • Heartbreaker Vi: Just like the previous "Heartbreaker" skins, Vi equipped a new great look with Valentine's day concept. In visual effects, the skin offers gold and hearts with pink colours. The sound effects sound metallic. Let's not forget her recall animation as well!

2020 Valentine's Day (Legacy)

  • Heartseeker Jinx: Jinx is presented as an heartseeker in this skin. The best thing that gets the attention is her new sound effects with a new voice-over.
  • Heartseeker Yuumi: Another popular and legacy skin is Heartseeker Yuumi. Just like other Valentine skins, this has a lot of pink and red colours. There is also a voice-over processing on this skin. There are new animations and particles as well.

2021 Valentine's Day (Permanent)

  • Crystal Rose Swain: The skins after 2021 are not legacy skins and are available in-store. "Crystal" was a new concept, and unlike the previous Valentine skins, it did not have many red and pink colours. Swain gets a new model, a recall animation, and sounds.
  • Withered Rose Syndra: This epic skin also does not resemble Valentine's day at first look. Syndra has new sound effects, animations, and particles. However, there are again not many red or pink colours.
  • Withered Rose Talon: Withered Rose Talon looks similar to Withered Rose Syndra, especially with the blue, purple, and gold colour schemes. The skin also has new sound effects, animations, and particles.
  • Crystal Rose Zyra: With the new colour schemes such as light blue and white, the skin surely offers a new look for Zyra. The skin also has new sound effects, animations, and particles.

2022 Valentine's Day (Permanent)

  • Crystal Rose Janna and Crystal Rose Akshan: These newest "crystal rose" skins have a similar look to the previous ones; light blue and white colour schemes, new recall, sound animations, and new particles.
  • Withered Rose Elise and Withered Rose Zeri: Just like the previous withered rose skins, they do not look lovely for Valentine's day with their dark colour schemes. Similar to other skins, they also have new animations, particles, and sound effects.

Conclusion

As you can see, each year, the LoL team creates a plethora of new Valentine's Day-themed skins, icons, and other items.

For players, skins are one of the most important releases on Valentine's day. Summoners love to buy and play with the new conceptual Valentine's day skins in League of Legends. Players should also remember that these skins are usually sold for a limited time, making them legacy skins. You cannot buy these legacy skins in-game, but they are available on the secondary markets where you can buy them securely.
