Hey, Summoners! Clear your calendars, 'cause League of Legends Season 13 Split 2 has dropped with a boatload of changes. Riot Games have been working tirelessly, and it's time to unveil their plans for the competitive, LP, and rank distribution systems. It's not just about the rank reset – there's plenty more to get hyped about!

1) LP Gain and Loss Tweaks:

Riot's done with the one-size-fits-all approach for LP. After initial adjustments in Split 1, they're going in with a fine-toothed comb in Split 2.

  • LP gain and loss will shift from 22 to 25 when a player’s rank matches up more closely with their MMR.
  • LP extremes at MMR and Rank disparities will be softened a bit.
  • A new, easy-to-understand tooltip for ranked duo queue restrictions will pop up if you hit Master tier or above.

All these tweaks aim to make your LP wins and losses feel less like a rollercoaster ride and more like a smooth cruise.

2) Welcome, Emerald Tier:

Cue the drumroll, 'cause Emerald Rank is making its grand entrance, neatly tucked between Platinum and Diamond.

No need to worry, Diamond players - Emerald Rank isn't here to knock you off your pedestal. It's more about making the path from Platinum to Diamond a bit less like navigating through a teemo mushroom field. Yep, hitting Gold or Platinum means you're no newbie, but the jump from Platinum to Diamond? Sometimes that feels like trying to solo a fed Darius.

3) Reduced Placement Games:

In a move sure to please alternate account creators, Riot's reducing placement games from ten to five. This permanent change will speed up the ranking process and let you hit the ground running when Split 2 lands.

4) Streamlined Promotion Series:

Getting promoted from one division to another used to mean a grueling best of five. But Riot's decided to lighten the load and reduce it to a best of three, making those division promotions less of a marathon and more of a sprint.

So, what's the goal behind these changes? Riot's set its sights on flattening the rank curve, making it easier for players to reach ranks that better reflect their skill level. The new Emerald Rank will help to recenter player distributions, while the removal of promotion games will lower stress levels and make for a smoother climb.

And, as the cherry on top, your ranks will be partially reset, giving you a head start on reaching those higher ranks when Split 2 begins.

Riot's Season 13 Ranked Split 2 goes live on July 19, 2023, at 12 PM CST, so brace yourselves. With all these exciting changes, it's time to gather your crew, prepare your favorite champs, and get ready to dive into a fresh, revamped League of Legends landscape. Bring it on!
