Dunkmaster Darius is one of the coolest League of Legends skins and to help celebrate the NBA we've gathered the facts.
If you’ve ever played top lane against Darius then chances are that you’ve seen the Dunkmaster Darius skin at some point. Darius running around with a basketball pole and flaming balls of fire is not easy to miss. If you have seen it then you probably have lot of questions about the skin such as how much is it and how do you get it. If you haven’t seen the skin then don’t worry we’ll fill you in with everything you need to know.
The first thing you’ll notice with the skin is the visual changes such as the colours and style. Obviously with the theme being basketball Darius wears a Michael Jordan classic red and black jersey with matching Nike Jordans. He’s also swapped his normal armour for some shorts and knee pads because who wants to shoot some hoops with all that heavy stuff on?
The skin also has a lot of model changes for Darius such as changing his axe to an actual basketball pole with hoop included. Why practise in one spot when you can carry the pole around with you? Darius also carries his trusty basket ball in his left hand as you never know when you’ll need to do a slam dunk so he’s always prepared. You can definitely tell a lot of time and effort has gone into making this skin by Riot.
There are also a lot of changes to the animations for his abilities such as the auto-attack, emotes, walk, recall, death and respawn. Each features a completely new animation. Darius’s ultimate has also been changed to the greatest dunk you’ve ever seen. Darius leaps up into the air with a flaming basketball and slams it down on his opponent causing a huge shockwave. The recall animation has also been changed to Darius shooting some hoops while he waits to teleport back. With all these model changes and new animations you can see why the skin is so expensive!
With all these new animations it would be a bit boring with the standard sound effects. But not to worry, Riot has also pimped up this skin with its own unique sounds for his abilities and autoattacks. The skin also features new quotes and catchphrases for his abilities, when buying certain items and taunting certain champions. One of the most popular catchphrases is “Get dunked” which happens when Darius uses his ultimate. Another new catchphrase is when Darius uses his Apprehend skill he shouts “It’s game time!” as he pulls enemies towards him.
The Dunkmaster Darius skin was originally released on 13th October 2014 on the Riot store for an incredible 1820 RP which is around $14. To put this into comparison most other Darius skins cost 975 RP or around $7.50. The skin received a lot of positive feedback upon its release and is currently one of the most popular skins in the game. The skin is currently still available to purchase in the Riot store so be sure to get it before it’s removed!
Although there is no indication that Riot will remove the skin from the store anytime soon, you just never know when they will decide to retire a skin.
