Overview

Riot Games is following up on a one-of-a-kind $500 Ahri Skin that was created for Faker, likely inspired by TFT's lootbox mechanics. Riot is announcing a new skin tier called Exalted, big changes to the Mythic Shop, and a new cosmetic item – Nexus Finishers.

Exalted is the new luxury skin tier that can only be unlocked through loot boxes with a 0.5% chance to obtain the new Exalted skin and a guaranteed drop after 80 rolls. What else can you get? Mostly trash and some Mythic Essence, so nothing amazing. The Mythic Shop is getting a new skin rotation that will include Legacy skins, event chromas, and emotes from Event Passes. There's also a new cosmetic item – Nexus Finishers, which lets you add some drama to your victory ( definitely not inspired by TFT chibis, wink wink). Let’s dive into each of these.

Exalted Skins: A New Skin Tier

Riot is introducing the Exalted skin tier, the ultimate in cosmetic luxury in League of Legends. Designed for players who want the most exclusive and visually stunning skins, Exalted skins push the limits of what Riot can do artistically and technologically ( according to them).

Some players disagree just see the meme below.. While it’s not really fair because packing all that features into a size limit Riot Games allows is technologically harder and some features are not mentioned in the meme.

Unlike other skins, Exalted skins aren’t just a new look for a champion; they dive deep into the champion’s fantasy, with immersive VFX, unique models, voice lines, and mechanics that offer a truly unparalleled experience… and there's also the $300 price tag and FOMO marketing tactics.

The first Exalted skin Riot released was in the Hall of Legends skin line, which included Hall of Legends Ahri as part of an event honoring esports legend Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok. This skin was a tribute to Faker’s career, with Ahri being one of his signature champions. The skin featured special transformation effects, dynamic VFX, voice features, and various exclusive goodies, culminating in a $500 bundle for players who wanted this one-of-a-kind skin. This was the precursor to the Exalted skin tier, and now skins like Arcane Fractured Jinx represent the next step in hyper-exclusive cosmetics.

Arcane Fractured Jinx skin announcement

The second skin in this new tier is Arcane Fractured Jinx, a skin as wild as Jinx herself from the Arcane series. This skin epitomizes what Exalted is all about: two models, each with three forms you can switch between mid-game using a slot-machine mechanic tied to Jinx’s Ctrl+5 emote. Each form has new voice lines, VFX, and thematic elements tied to Jinx’s Arcane storyline.

Along with the forms, Arcane Fractured Jinx features custom HUD overlays that reflect Jinx’s experiences from Arcane Season 1 and Season 2. Each overlay is integrated into Jinx’s passive ability, adding a layer of story-based interaction. Riot has teased even more VFX leading up to the skin’s release to build hype for this already highly anticipated skin.

Arcane Fractured Jinx Drop Table Example

Tier Description Example Drop Rate
S-Tier Content Highest value loot within The Sanctum’s pool Arcane Fractured Jinx Exalted skin Base drop rate is 0.5%, and will be guaranteed within 80 attempts, bringing the effective drop rate to 1.5%
A-Tier Content Various cosmetics including skins, rare new content, exclusive rewards Select skins, exclusive paragon chromas, exclusive banner Base drop rate is 10%, and A-Tier content will be guaranteed within every 10 attempts
B-Tier Content Primarily Mythic Essence in varying denominations and some accessories Mythic Essence (5/10/25/50/100), random icon, random emote Base drop rate is 89.5%

Acquiring Exalted Skins: The Sanctum

To get Exalted skins, Riot has introduced The Sanctum system. This allows players to obtain Exalted skins and other rare cosmetics in a more flexible and rewarding way. Instead of setting a fixed high price for these skins, players can buy Ancient Sparks for 400 RP each. These Sparks are used to pull from a pool of rewards, including Exalted skins like Arcane Fractured Jinx.

The Sanctum includes built-in protections to ensure players get the rewards they want. For instance, the base drop rate for an Exalted skin is 0.5%, but you're guaranteed to get one after 80 pulls. This bad-luck protection means no player will be stuck pulling forever without getting their desired reward. The maximum investment to obtain an Exalted skin is 32,000 RP (~ $260), but it could be much less if you're lucky.

Besides Exalted skins, The Sanctum offers other rewards across different tiers:

  • S-Tier Content: The highest value loot, including Exalted skins like Arcane Fractured Jinx. Base drop rate is 0.5%, but bad-luck protection increases it to 1.5%.
  • A-Tier Content: Rare skins, exclusive chromas, and other cosmetic rewards. Base drop rate is 10%, with A-Tier content guaranteed within 10 pulls.
  • B-Tier Content: Mythic Essence in varying amounts, random icons, and emotes. Base drop rate is 89.5%.

Bad-luck protection applies to both S-Tier and A-Tier content, so players will always receive a high-value item within a set number of pulls. Additionally, The Sanctum prevents duplicate items if players already own them, ensuring each pull remains valuable.

🚨

Important note: Exalted skins, like Mythic Variants, will not be in the reroll pool to maintain their exclusivity. Riot has stated that these high-end cosmetics are intended for collectors who value rarity, and the skins will only be obtainable through systems like The Sanctum. However, Dark Cosmic Erasure Jhin, a previously announced Mythic Variant, will be an exception to this rule.

That is, if you trust Riot not to cash out again once the skin becomes popular. They also promised not to reintroduce Pax Skins or Championship Riven, but each of these skins returned in a new form, along with the gacha chroma for Jhin.

Mythic Shop Expansion

Mythic Shop Expansion

Along with The Sanctum, Riot is expanding the Mythic Shop to include more content from past events. Players can expect legacy skins, event chromas, and emotes to return, all purchasable with Mythic Essence.

This is Riot’s way of bringing back some of the most popular cosmetics from previous events. However, skins that were Limited (General Limited, Achievement Limited, Promotional, or Event Limited) will not be returning to the Mythic Shop. This means no Pax Twisted Fate , Pax Jax , Pax Sivir and no Black Alistar , Young Ryze , or Victorious skins. The only way to unlock these is by purchasing an account with the skin already unlocked, preserving the rarity for players who originally acquired them.

To help players keep track of the rotating content, Riot is also adding timers to the Mythic Shop, so players know when content is about to leave and don’t miss a second chance to obtain these items.

While most of the focus this year has been on Exalted skins and high-end cosmetics, Riot has assured players that there will still be content across all price points, ensuring that everyone can enjoy cool skins and cosmetics without breaking the bank.

Nexus Finishers: New Customization Content

A brand new feature in League of Legends is Nexus Finishers, a new type of cosmetic content. These finishers add a dramatic visual effect at the game's most important moment: when the Nexus is destroyed. When this happens, a random player from the winning team will have their equipped Nexus Finisher displayed for everyone to see.

The first Nexus Finisher is Jinx's Arcane-themed finisher, complete with custom VFX, SFX, and animations. However, future Nexus Finishers won’t always be champion- or skin-specific, offering more variety and customization as this new feature evolves.

Jinx’s Nexus Finisher will be available for 250 Mythic Essence in the Mythic Shop during its initial release. Players can equip Nexus Finishers on any champion or skin they choose, allowing them to showcase this new feature in every game.

Conclusion and Future Updates

Exalted skins, The Sanctum, the Mythic Shop expansion, and Nexus Finishers mark a significant milestone for League of Legends' cosmetics. Riot Games continues to push the limits of what’s possible in the game, giving players more ways to express themselves—and making themselves rich in the process.

Allegedly, there is more to come in 2025. Collectors and casual players alike should prepare their wallets!
